Step 1: Appointment
Your nurse injector discusses your treatment options and answers any questions you have. Then, they apply a topical numbing cream. Once the numbing sets in, your provider administers the dermal filler. After the injections, the provider may gently massage the area for even distribution.
Step 2: Results
There is no downtime following treatment. However, redness and bruising at the injection site can occur. You may see initial results immediately following treatment. Full results develop after bruising and swelling fully subside, usually within 14 days.
Step 3: Follow-up
After treatment, we schedule a follow-up appointment 2 weeks later. This quick, 15-minute appointment allows us to check on how your lips healed. In this appointment, we also make any touch-ups if needed.

Pre-Care Instructions
- Avoid taking blood thinners for at least 5 days before treatment. Some medications can cause negative side effects, such as increased bruising in the treatment area.
- We recommend consulting your primary care physician before you stop taking any prescribed medications.
- Do not schedule any immunizations or dental work for 2 weeks before or immediately following your treatment. Additionally, we cannot proceed with treatment if you are sick with an illness (cold, flu, etc.).
Post-Care Instructions
- Take a break from workouts for at least 24 hours following treatment. Exercise can increase blood flow, which can raise your chances of bruising.
- Do not apply any makeup for at least 24 hours. Applying makeup to the injection site can cause irritation, displace the filler, or lead to infection.
- Avoid puckering your lips for 3 to 5 days, including to drink through a straw. To ease any swelling, you may apply a cold compress on and off as needed.
